Maria Conkey - Director
Maria is also the director of the award winning senior choirs at St. Bonaventure's College, and the Choral Director at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist for the 2010-2011 season. Maria has worked with such internationally-acclaimed conductors as Maria Guinand of Venezuela, Jon Washburn of Vancouver, Fred Sjoberg of Sweden and Ivars Taurins of Tafelmusik. During her undergraduate work Maria studied piano under the direction of Dr. Kristina Szutor, and continued to study conducting with Dr. Leonard Ratzlaff, Dr. Debra Cairns, Dr. Douglas Dunsmore, Vernon Regehr and Kellie Walsh. Since then Maria has worked with several children's, youth and adult choirs including the Alberta Youth Choir, the University of Alberta Recital Choir and the University of Alberta Madrigal Singers.

Born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland Maria Conkey is a graduate of Memorial University and the University of Alberta where she completed a Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting in 2010. She is the current Artistic Director of the St. John's Choir.
